"Henri Tournier is both a Western flutist and an Indian flutist, a classical musician and a contemporary improviser. He was best placed to undertake the innovative exploration of 'Souffles du monde' by inviting ten singers from different traditions and practices to journey with him: Dorsaf Hamdani (Tunisia), Alireza Ghorbani (Iran), Pronab Biswas (India), Ustad Farida Mahwash (Afghanistan), Abida Parveen (Pakistan), Enkhjargal Dandarvaanchig alias Epi (Mongolia), Etsuko Chida (Japan) and three European singers: Anne-Marie Lablaude and Dominique Vellard, from medieval music, and Carole Hémard, from contemporary music. For two and a half years, Henri Tournier explores this 'terra incognita' that is the conversation between the flute and the voice. With the Indian bansuri flute and several Western keyed flutes, he constructs 'Souffles du monde' focusing on a dialogue between the West and the East - some universals are affirmed, others are circumvented, twisted, exploded.
