For the first time, Hélène Grimaud records Bach - THE "king" composer par excellence. Hélène Grimaud has no equal on the classical music scene: adored by crowds like a true pop star, the young virtuoso brings a gram of dream and a touch of fantasy to a world that is often too serious. She is "the pianist the French prefer" (according to a recent IPSOS poll). After an album dedicated to Beethoven last year, Hélène Grimaud offers us an album dedicated to one of the public's favorite composers: Johann Sebastian Bach. She developed the concept, which is very original, with particular care, as she holds a true cult for the composer. The idea is to bring together on one album original keyboard works by Bach, and transcriptions made by great pianist-composers: Busoni, Liszt, Rachmaninoff. For the transcriptions, one can hear the Bach/Busoni version of the Chaconne in D minor, the Partita for violin in E major in arrangements for piano by Rachmaninoff, and Liszt's version of the Prelude and Fugue in A minor. Regarding the Bach/Bach part, Hélène takes on a monument of the piano: Books 1 and 2 of The Well-Tempered Clavier and Concerto No. 1 in D minor, with the Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.
