The film follows Jason Voorhees who, after being accidentally resurrected, stalks a new group of summer camp counselors. This version of Jason, now undead and endowed with supernatural powers, will become the standard representation of the masked killer for the rest of the series.The music composed by Harry Manfredini, the iconic Friday the 13th composer, is his most ambitious and spectacular score to date for the series. Working with a full orchestra and having a budget that allowed for updated sound design and electronic work, Manfredini elevates the franchise's music to new heights before his absence from the series, returning years later to compose the scores for parts 9 (Jason Goes To Hell) and 10 (Jason X).
