WHEN HARRY MET SALLY/VINYLME COULEUR 180GR

Description

The soundtrack to one of the biggest Hollywood hits of the 1980s, 'When Harry Met Sally', consists of standards performed by singer and pianist Harry Connick Jr., with a big band and an orchestra arranged by Marc Shaiman. The soundtrack album (which is distinct from the film) was a success and a big step forward for the young pianist-singer. Connick warmly sings numbers such as 'It Had to Be You', 'Our Love Is Here to Stay', 'But Not for Me' and 'Let's Call the Whole Thing Off' while usually accompanied by bassist Benjamin Wolfe, drummer Jeff 'Tain' Watts and a big band. The warm tenor Frank Wess makes a brief appearance on 'Our Love Is Here to Stay'. In addition, there are some melodic instrumentals, including a solo piano performance by Connick on 'Winter Wonderland' and 'Autumn in New York'. Connick's performance on this wonderful soundtrack earned him his first Grammy for Best Male Jazz Vocal Performance. The soundtrack topped the Billboard Traditional Jazz Chart and was in the top 50 of the Billboard 200. Connick also toured North America in support of this album. It then achieved double-platinum status.
