Already a sixth album for Sean Tillmann, the crazy crooner behind the alias Har Mar Superstar, two years after "Bye Bye 17", we particularly remember his highly acclaimed live performance on Canal+'s Grand Journal in 2014. Tillmann named himself in homage to the Minnesota shopping mall where he spent his youth.
"Best Summer Ever" is a time machine, like an imaginary best-of of Har Mar Superstar covering musical genres from the 50s to the 80s. The result: a masterpiece of soulful ballads and synth-pop hits.
For this opus, he surrounded himself with Julian Casablancas, with whom he co-wrote a few songs, and Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who accompanies him on one track. A definitely punk, funny, and sarcastic soul music.
