Description

Polish pianist and composer Hania Derej (2005) explores, with her trio, a blend of electronic jazz and neoclassical influences. Accompanied by bassist Mateusz Szewczyk and drummer Gniewomir Tomczyk, she navigates between intense bursts, ostinato patterns, and lyrical melodies. Her autobiographical compositions address doubts, pivotal moments, and the frantic pace of a young musician's life. Derej is currently studying composition and jazz arrangement at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, as well as symphonic conducting in Krakow. She won the double Grand Prix at the Ladies’ Jazz Festival 2025 in Gdynia and has performed at various jazz festivals across Europe. Her third album will be released on the Dutch label ZenneZ Records two months before her concert at TivoliVredenburg.
