The Parisians of Hangman's CHAIR return in 2015 with their fourth album, "This is not supposed to be positive", once again produced by Francis Caste (Studio Sainte Marthe). Over time and across albums, their early stoner and doom influences gradually fade away to make room for their own style, with colder, more stripped-down tracks but still with the same heaviness and increasingly more vocal melodies, carried by the fabulous voice of singer/guitarist Cédric, which recall 90s down-tempo hardcore bands like LIFE OF AGONY, ONLY LIVING WITNESS or SECTION 8. Of course, the shadow of ALICE IN CHAINS still hangs over the band, but one can also note more and more gothic-metal detours that may bring to mind TYPE O NEGATIVE or even The Cure. With this new release, Hangman's Chair simply establishes itself as the French benchmark in stoner/doom.
