In ten episodes, this exquisite corpse of music comes to life and resolutely breaks free from the usual boxes. Blending science fiction imagery, modern psych-funk, and pop, Gystere propels his DIY vessel with 70s and 80s craftsmanship, conveying anti-racist and anti-sexist messages hidden beneath truly effective hits. Beneath the splendor of vocal harmonies and acrobatic chord progressions lies the breadth of the musical project, straddling spiritual soul and afro-prog. With a powerful live band of six musicians (the Gystère Live Gang), he now merges subtle groove, layered songwriting, and heightened psychedelia, under an afro-futuristic theme that references both the 70s voodoo jazz-funk and the anti-racist activism of our time.
