Straight From The Deck - Vol 4

Description

A SELECTION OF THE BEST TRACKS FROM GUTS’ DJ SETS, APPROVED BY THOUSANDS OF DANCERS ACROSS EUROPE AND THE WORLD. It was eagerly awaited, and here is the return of GUTS’ Straight From The Decks compilation, with a Volume 4 still packed with those beautiful musical discoveries from all corners of the world. The genres vary, as do the cultures. Because it is the passion for music that makes up the set (or the vibe) that drives the person behind the decks, a DJ’s beginnings inevitably exude authenticity. More often than not, they are telling their own story in music, laying their DNA and what has shaped them onto the turntables. To begin is to find oneself faced with a multitude of roads to take, each one a style to play. When you know how devastating going off the beaten track can be, emptying the dancefloor even faster than it filled up, it often takes a great deal of audacity to break the unity of a funk night with a punk track. With time, evolving means finding oneself faced with only two roads. On the first, in order to satisfy the greatest number and not lose the value of their fees, the DJ adapts to the trend. Whether they like what they are playing under their needles or not, the road has turned into a highway, and it is very comfortable. Everything on it is already familiar to the crowd, who do not come to hear anything else. But thirty seconds, or even a minute of each, will be more than enough. Everything must flow quickly. Everything is mapped out and secured. Those who follow the rules will (normally) make the journey without incident. Several times a week, a month, a year. Total disappearance of curiosity. And then there is the other path. Where nothing is expected, and sometimes not even heard. The road of an ever-unsatisfied passion for diggin’ and the desire to know more and more. A passion paid for with hours of searching and finding spent in discomfort and the possible disappointment of never coming across anything exciting, as well as nights spent exploring platforms and multiplying clicks for nothing more than a splitting headache. Until that moment of grace when, after thousands of fruitless jolts, the gem remains alone in the sieve, with no doubt whatsoever as to its quality. Coming from places never mentioned for their music, sometimes classics of their genre, they are also rarities miraculously saved from total disappearance, as much as current wonders, but threatened with never emerging from the vastness of the web. Even if the possibility of a text with substance is never ruled out, they can tell long stories just as easily as they can be meant only to make you dance until you’re dehydrated. Shimmering with spirituality, there are also some that spray energy away and replace it with a pure emotion capable of touching hearts in the sparseness of simple percussion. This road is marked by sincerity, singularity, surprises, but always by communion between the DJ and their audience, who set out together, with mutual trust, on the hours of sharing and discovery it promises. Pura Vida, GUTS
