« The Gospel Album », third studio album by Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, an indigenous artist considered 'the greatest voice of Australia', will be released on July 31, 2015. This new collection of 10 songs was inspired by his mother and aunts, who raised him to the sound of church songs and lullabies on Elcho Island. During his childhood, Gurrumul was not only influenced by the traditional music of his clan: he was also influenced by the gospel he heard sung every Sunday in a Methodist church. In "The Gospel Album", he revisits the 'spirituals' brought by Christian missionaries to Arnhem Land, in North-East Australia. True to his reputation, he delivers with "The Gospel Album" a worthy successor to "Gurrumul" and "Rrakala", his two previous albums, certified platinum and released in 2009 and 2011 respectively.
