Description

A conscientious objector at heart, Guiz has been the author of a great many of Tryo’s essential songs for nearly 30 years ("L’Hymne de nos campagnes", "Toi et moi", "La main verte"...). For the very first time, he is leading a solo project, with lyrics in his image, at once more personal and uncompromising. Thus Utopia was born, defending the idea that life is beautiful, that it is worth living, and that we must not lose heart. On the contrary, more than ever, we must unite despite our differences, around our values of freedom, equality and fraternity. Involved in various collective projects and loving the effervescence of creative group work, Guiz could not make his album without being surrounded by talented friends. He therefore called on Martin Laumond, musician, guitarist and singer, who accompanied Tryo’s last tour for 3 years. Tryo regulars will also recognize Manu Eveno (who spent 25 years in the band), brought in as much for his arranging skills and virtuoso guitar playing as for a bond that needs no words. A turntable maestro and 2021 world champion of turntablism, Ordoeuvre, for his part, explores the world of scratching, electronic music and jazz. Accompanied by the band TeKeMat on composition, the incredible Senegalese artist Mariaa Siga lends her voice to the track "Comme il est". We also find the explosive Mike and Riké from Sinsémilia on the track "Débrancher". Finally, multi-instrumentalists Gérôme Briard and Raphaël Charpentier complete the picture. So wonderfully accompanied, Guiz delivers an album full of optimism and struggles in the service of humankind and nature. Inspired by his family, his reading, love and the current political state of the world, with Utopia, Guiz proudly carries the values and commitments that have been his since the beginning of his career, from ecology to living together, with a unique perspective that is both sharp and poetic.
