Rock You To Hell

The third and final album by Grim Reaper, "Rock You To Hell," is a feast of melodic metal, hard rock, and heavy tracks, with hooks galore and non-stop catchy guitar riffs. The band enlisted producer Max Norman this time, and the results were much better than their two previous offerings. In 1987, commercial metal, or "hair metal" as it was often called, was all the rage, and this had an effect on Grim Reaper, who injected catchier hooks into their NWOBHM sound. Songs like "Night of the Vampire," "Waysted Love," the catchy title track (See You in Hell... Flip yourself to hell... these guys liked to spend their vacations there quite often), and the fist-pumping, sing-along anthem "Lust For Freedom" all raised the bar towards more commercial waters, although the overall vibe was still quite heavy. Steve Grimmett's vocals were less exaggerated this time, as he had learned by then to use his powerful lungs and control his voice instead of just proving how loud he could scream. As always, Nick Bowcott delivers plenty of tasty solos and meaty classic metal riffs.
