No matter which stylistic path it takes, GREEN CARNATION has never shied away from grandiose, dark statements. Founded in the early 90s by former Emperor bassist Tchort, the Norwegian band quickly amassed a cult following with one of the most ambitious epics in metal history. Even before their hiatus in the mid-2000s, these constantly evolving authors still displayed a sense of the dramatic by performing their acoustic verses under a mountain barrage. However, one story — three, to be precise — still eluded them. Until now. With the beginning of its ‘A Dark Poem’ trilogy, GREEN CARNATION finally announces its masterpiece. The idea of a trio of albums originated in the early days of GREEN CARNATION, but the first part of ‘A Dark Poem’ quotes various passages from their illustrious repertoire. The first single, “In Your Paradise,” reaches unprecedented heights of power, carried by sublime riffs and dark symphonic embellishments. Although the band navigates with its known mastery, the panorama of the "shores of melancholia" is far from paradisiacal. Doomsday manifests around every corner, whether in the warlike darkness of the title track, Floydian atmospheres tinged with paranoia, or passages inherited from black metal. On ‘A Dark Poem, Part I: The Shores of Melancholia,’ GREEN CARNATION embarks on an epic journey through the darkest recesses of the soul.
