The legendary singer-songwriter Graham Nash announces his new studio album: This Path Tonight. This new studio album, produced by Shane Fontayne, a collection of ten original songs by Graham Nash, is the first solo album of new music that Nash has recorded in 14 years. The album is intended as a work of reflection and transition, that of a singer-songwriter whose career (Hollies, CSN, CSNY) has lasted more than five decades, and it is not over yet. “What a pleasure it was to record this album,” says Graham Nash. “Shane and I wrote 20 songs in a month and recorded them in eight days. The music has a different feel from my previous albums, although I hear echoes of each one. This journey of mine was a voyage of self-discovery, intense creation, absolute passion.” At the dawn of the sixties, from Salford, birthplace of one half of Joy Division and a suburb of Manchester, then gray and far from mad, Graham Nash dreamed of America with The Hollies, exploring, with clear arpeggios, the harmonic territories neighboring those that The Byrds would embrace. It was with Crosby, Stills and Nash that he would find his American cousins again to invent their extension of folk-rock and infuse the spirit of the times with songs that were both pastoral and urban, crystalline and tormented, hymns meant for a youth in search of innocence to change a world caught between the utopia of definitive and materialist reconstruction, the Cold War and bursts of napalm. The trio’s appearance at Woodstock would be one of the signatures of the era. Far from cultivating misty nostalgia, Graham Nash has since continued his work as a songwriter, carving out a path that is both determined and humble in order to extract clear melodies to offer to anyone who takes them on.
