Carnaby Street Soul West Coast Vibes

Description

This album is our tribute to an eccentric, a charmer, an unknown hero of the 60s... The character that is Graham Dee has lived an incredible life. Between surviving the East London bombing during World War II and playing with Pink Floyd & Jimmy Page, Graham has done it all, and this compilation looks at the story of his life through music. He worked in A&R at Atlantic Records, signing artists and producing their songs, in addition to playing on sessions that included Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones before Zeppelin. One of his tracks, 'A Love I Believe In' narrowly missed being number 1 after Tony Blackburn proclaimed the single "Record of the Week." At that time, Graham worked with people like Georgie Fame, Elkie Brooks, Mike Berry, to name just a few, and even replaced Syd Barrett for some Pink Floyd concerts. He eventually left Atlantic after damaging studio equipment while practicing archery, accidentally shooting into the office and terrorizing the staff. Many of these tracks recall specific moments in Graham's life, and involve many similar stories. These stories provide the context for the tracks, and that gives a certain spirit to the compilation. Now in his sixties, Graham Dee continues to write, record, play, and release solo records.
