Gottfried von der Goltz, first violin and conductor of the excellent Freiburger Barockorchester, returns for a new album dedicated to the violin sonatas of the young Telemann, originally accompanied by harpsichord. Hardly recorded, surprising in their form, but even more by the freedom of play and ornamentation they offer to musicians, these sonatas, published in Frankfurt in 1715, testify to the exceptional creative richness already contained in Telemann's work. A fine connoisseur of French and Italian tastes, the composer shows rare delicacy and displays his remarkable melodic vein, the contours of which herald the forthcoming galant style. Gottfried von der Goltz establishes himself here as an expert on Telemann and presents an interpretation that reflects these pieces: rich and inventive. A rare record.
