Back in trio formation, the London rock band Goat Girl presents ‘Below The Waste’, a third album following ‘Goat Girl’ (2018) and ‘On All Fours’ (2021) on Rough Trade Records. The trio made up of Rosy Jones, Lottie Pendlebury, and Holly Mullineau appears more confident than ever, deeply involved in the artistic direction and production of the 16 tracks on the album alongside John ‘Spud’ Murphy (black midi, Lankum). Showcasing a more mature facet of their music without losing its edge, Goat Girl develops an increasingly distinct sound palette on ‘Below The Waste’, skillfully venturing between noise rock, delicate folk experiments, and catchy synth-pop melodies. An album with avant-garde and expansive compositions that seeks to highlight the hidden, depraved, and dispensable aspects of our increasingly dystopian daily environment.
