GB was formed in the summer of 1983. The original lineup consisted of: Olle Hillborg on vocals, Jonas Pettersson and Mikael Jansson on guitars, Staffan Björkman on bass, and Jörgen on drums. Mikael, Staffan, and Jörgen left the band, and bassist Pelham and drummer Oden joined for the first album "Glorious Bankrobbers" in 1984 (produced by Kee Marcello). GB toured in Sweden and played a few concerts in Norway, gaining a reputation as one of the most explosive bands in Stockholm. Pelham left the band in 1987, and Lake left Front of House to play bass. Mikael from the original lineup returned, and the second album "Dynamite Sex Dose" was recorded in the spring of 1989. The music video for the title track was aired several times on MTV's Headbangers Ball. Tours in Sweden and Norway followed, from KB Malmo to the club forgotthename in Tromso, as well as an opening act for Yngwie Malmsteen at the Johanneshov Ice Stadium. They also went to New York in November 1990 and played a few concerts around Manhattan/Queens/Staten Island (Cat Club, CBGBs, Spoodee Yodies, Wolf Club, Bond Street Cafe, Red Spot). A live album from the concert at CBGB's was released in early 1991. The years 91-92 were tumultuous, and Olle left the band for Backstreet Girls (Norway). The rest of the band reformed with a new singer, Michael Oran, under the name Mental Hippie Blood. The band reformed in 2006 (without Mikael), and in 2007 they released the album "The Glorious Sound of Rock'n'Roll," which contains unreleased songs and new recordings. Drummer Oden sadly passed away in December 2012, and the band remained dormant until the summer of 2019 when two new faces joined the group, Danne Lagerstedt (guitar) and Henka Johansson (drums). A few new songs were recorded, and the video for "Sweet Queen" was filmed in an elevator in downtown Stockholm. Henka left the band after two concerts and was replaced by Anders Bentell. In the fall of 2022, GB recorded songs for the new album "Back on the Road," which will be released in April 2023. In 2024, Glorious Bankrobbers is, as the saying goes: still alive and well! and celebrates 40 years of rock'n'roll career.
