Yoann Moulin begins his music training with Robert Weddle at the Maîtrise de Caen. There he discovers the harpsichord, which he studies with Bibiane Lapointe and Thierry Maeder, and continues after a stint at the Villecroze academy with Ilton Wjuniski his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in the classes of Olivier Baumont, Kenneth Weiss, and Blandine Rannou.
At that same time, he discovers the clavichord thanks to Étienne Baillot, self-taught organ, improvisation alongside Freddy Eichelberger, and benefits from the teaching of Pierre Hantaï, Skip Sempé, Blandine Verlet, and Élisabeth Joyé.
He has since performed in recitals and chamber music in various seasons and festivals such as the Philharmonie de Paris, La Roque d'Anthéron, the Folles Journées de Nantes, Oude Muziek - Utrecht, Ambronay, the Royaumont Foundation, Lanvellec, Contrepoint 62, the Venetian Center for Baroque Music, the Cervantino - Mexico, La Chaise-Dieu, the Palais Jacques Coeur - Bourges, the Bach Academy of Arques-la-Bataille, Saint Riquier, the Philharmonie of Luxembourg, the Actus Humanus festival in Poland, or the International Tropical Baroque festival in Miami. He also accompanies several ensembles such as Les Arts Florissants, le Concert Spirituel, the ensemble Clément Janequin, Cappricio Stavagante, la Fenice, the viol consort L'Achéron, le Concert Étranger, la Tempête, the Maîtrise du Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, les Musiciens du Paradis, the baroque dance company Les Fêtes Galantes, Das Klub - Cabaret Contemporain, or the jazz collective La Forge. He participates in several recordings for the Alpha and Ricercar labels, including "Au Sainct Nau" with the ensemble Clément Janequin. The "Ludi Musici" of Samuel Scheidt recorded with l'Achéron and "The Tempest" album around the play by William Shakespeare with the ensemble la Tempête have both been awarded a Diapason d'or.
Finally, Freddy Eichelberger, Pierre Gallon, and Yoann Moulin recently founded "Une Bande de Clavecin," a consort of early keyboards united around the music of the Renaissance, both written and improvised.
Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583-1643) was one of the last representatives of the splendor of the court of Alfonso d'Este, Duke of Ferrara. He was a student of Luzzascho Luzzaschi, considered by musicians of the time to be the best organist of his time and an essential figure of the Concerto delle Dame, famous throughout Italy for its beauty. In the service of several great figures, cardinals, dukes, and princes, Frescobaldi dedicated to them, as was customary, the publications of his works that punctuate his entire life.
Through the program of this disc, Yoann Moulin invites us to discover the richness and diversity of the languages that Frescobaldi experimented with throughout his work.
Yoann Moulin plays an Italian harpsichord by Philippe Humeau from 2012, and a virginal by Jean-François Brun, a copy of an anonymous Italian instrument from 1626.
