Holding hands with Jamie

Description

If you’ve never seen Girl Band on stage, listened to their EP The Early Years or watched the video for their 8-minute cover of techno producer Blawan, get ready for a real shock with Holding Hands With Jamie! This debut album captures like never before the tension and abrasive energy of the quartet’s live performances. It only took two days to record seven of the nine tracks, thus preserving all the ferocity and rage of the Dublin band’s music. An all-male group contrary to what their name might suggest, Girl Band deliver incandescent noise rock, drawing as much from post-punk as from techno with disconcerting ease. Dara Kiely’s desperate and deceptively laid-back voice always heralds a true sonic blast masterfully orchestrated by his three bandmates. Best enjoyed very loud and with no moderation whatsoever!
