Remastered reissue of the first album released in 1970 with the original artwork. Little known in France, Gil Scott-Heron is nevertheless one of the key artists in the history of Black American music. But while the coherence of his work is undeniable, supported by the talents of a poet and accomplished musician, his career was not as meteoric as other big names in 70s soul music, among them Curtis Mayfield or Marvin Gaye. Sophisticated soul music with a strong social commitment, in which he fully belongs. His first album Small Talk at 125th and Lenox was released in 1970. Accompanied by very funky percussion, in the style of the Last Poets, Gil Scott-Heron chants, tells stories, and sometimes sings, with charisma and confidence already clearly in evidence. At his side, the name of Brian Jackson is already noticeable on piano, whom Scott-Heron met at university and considers his alter ego.
