This new 45 RPM from the Four Flies label brings together for the first time the two grooviest and sexiest tracks from Gianni Ferrio's soundtrack for the comedy thriller La Poliziotta directed by Steno, of which only one track ("Step by Step") appeared on the original 45 RPM (now very rare and sought after) released in 1974. The festivities kick off with the funk-blues "Rhythm & Sex," influenced by blaxploitation, on side A, a track packed with killer drum breaks and driven by an impeccable brass ensemble (a recurring feature of Ferrio's style, thanks to his exquisite talents as a brass arranger). On side B, the super cool "Step by Step" takes funky jazz into sultry territory, with the cheeky vocals of the Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni winking at the crime comedy atmosphere of the film. Both tracks showcase Gianni Ferrio's great mastery as a jazz-funk composer and arranger – a mastery that earned him the nickname "Italian Quincy Jones" at the time.
