Adrian Younge Presents: Twelve Reasons To Die

Description

Two years after the first installment, Adrian Younge and Ghostface Killah finally unveil Twelve Reasons To Die II. This sequel sees the arrival of a significant collaborator: Raekwon, whose chemistry with Ghostface, sealed twenty years ago on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, is palpable on five of the album's thirteen tracks. The patriarch of the Wu-Tang, The RZA, reprises his role as narrator, guiding the listener through the story. While the first episode was set in 1960s Italy, this sequel delves into 1970s New York. The descendants of the DeLuca family control the city, but a new crime syndicate, led by the charismatic Lester Kane (Raekwon), emerges and ignites a violent power struggle. Kane knows the legend of Tony Starks, killed in Italy, whose remains were partially used to create twelve vinyl records; when these records are played in the "Old World," the Ghostface Killer is resurrected to annihilate the DeLucas, a storyline that culminates at the end of Part II. Musically, Younge brings this story to life with his unique style of psychedelic and cinematic soul. A multi-instrumentalist, he sometimes plays more than ten instruments per track, recording entirely on analog tape to recreate the texture and atmosphere of the 70s. Twelve Reasons To Die II confirms the expertise and creativity of all participants, fitting perfectly into the Wu-Tang universe and Younge's constantly expanding musical cosmos, now housed by Linear Labs.
