New York, N.Y. - Front Cover
George Russell & His Orchestra

New York, N.Y.

Description

Initially scheduled for release on 01/29 Released in 1959, 'New York, NY' was an opportunity for this genius to deliver an album that highlights poetry and New York, surrounded by giants such as John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Art Farmer, Bob Brookmeyer, and Milt Hinton. A true influence for many greats like Miles Davis and Bill Evans, George Russell became one of those composers who democratized "Modal Jazz," allowing musicians great freedom. Considered one of the great classics of Jazz, 'New York, N.Y' is reissued here in audiophile quality in the Verve Acoustic Sounds series (from the original master tapes).
