WALKING TO NEW ORLEANS

Description

A VIBRANT TRIBUTE TO CHUCK BERRY & FATS DOMINO! George Benson returns to the roots of American music in 'Walking to New Orleans'. The legendary jazz guitarist pays a poignant tribute to the brilliant pianist and wonderful hit-maker, Fats Domino, and to the guitarist, rock hero, and poet, Chuck Berry. A great admirer of both men, Benson revives their works with his unique soulful singing and graceful guitar solos! Chuck Berry's repertoire is featured here through the songs: 'Walking To New Orleans', "Nadine (Is It You?)," "You Can't Catch Me," "Havana Moon," "Memphis, Tennessee," and "How You've Changed." Fats Domino's work is found with "Rockin' Chair," "Ain't That A Shame," "I Hear You Knocking," "Blue Monday," and the album's title track. 'Walking to New Orleans' is Benson's first album since 'Inspiration: A Tribute to Nat King Cole.', released in 2013. An album in which Benson restored the splendor of Cole's tracks through luxurious orchestral arrangements. In contrast, for this new record, Benson retreated to Ocean Way Studios in Nashville with a simple quartet comprising drummer Greg Morrow, guitarist Rob McNelley, pianist Kevin McKendree, and bassist Alison Prestwood. Behind the controls, we find producer Kevin "The Caveman" Shirley (Journey, John Hiatt, Iron Maiden, Bonamassa). 'Walking to New Orleans' is George Benson's 45th album, yet none of his records has ever sounded so relaxed and fun!
