Concertos pour vents

Description

Oboe or oboe d’amore, transverse flute, recorder or pastoral flute, Telemann composed many instrumental concertos for the ensemble of wind instruments of his time. Himself very familiar with these instruments, most of which he knew how to play, his pieces, with their highly idiomatic writing, were entirely devoted to their service, immediately and spontaneously appealing to every musician. Of great richness in structures and forms, these concertos were dedicated to a variety of ensembles and formations of sometimes unusual sizes. In Italian, French, German or even Polish style, these pieces exalted the joy of playing and the imagination of their performers. It is because of their unique character, specific to the very personal style of the German composer, that CPO is today releasing these jewels magnificently performed by La Stagione and the Camerata Köln, two ensembles that master their scores perfectly. Very rich music, of fine sensitivity, which allows the listener to understand the reasons why Telemann’s contemporaries considered the composer’s work exceptional.
