Les oeuvres de Louis Vierne, organist at the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris and grand master of this instrument, occupy the entirety of this 4CD box set: from poetic pieces in free style to the monumental final masterpiece that is the Sixth Symphony, including the virtuosic pieces of fantasy. All works are recorded on the organ of the Saint-François-Xavier church by its titular in the 1970s, Gaston Litaize, who was himself a student of Vierne. These recordings have been subject to a new remastering from the original tapes in 196KHZ/24-BIT. The recording of the pieces in free style is completely unreleased.
