With the release of their 11th album, "Empire Of The Undead," Gamma Ray undeniably reclaims their throne as leaders of the European Heavy Metal scene. The loyalty of Gamma Ray and Kai Hansen is quite unique: after two EPs ("Skeletons And Majesties" and "Masters Of Confusion") and a live CD/DVD ("Skeletons And Majesties" LIVE), they listened to their fans who were asking for new, "heavier" tracks. Following their world tour with Helloween, the band worked for over a year with their friend and producer Eike Freese (who recently mixed Deep Purple's live album "The Now What?! Live Tapes"). In late 2013, Gamma Ray's studio in Hamburg was destroyed by fire. Despite this disaster, the band acted as they always do: "Life's too short to whine about it" for Kai Hansen, adding: "Nobody can stop us." This message can easily be transposed to this new album, such as to the title track, which proves once again that Gamma Ray's compositions are irresistible, with their heavy and fast side, while retaining that instantly recognizable sound.
