That is why, and while these two venerable gentlemen are still with us, the time has never been more right for Kent to release “Love Train: The Songs Of Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff”… This prestigious collection covers roughly the first decade of their partnership and gathers as many of the songs that built their reputation as can fit on a single CD. Of course, we could have taken the easy route and padded it out with titles they also produced for their legendary Philadelphia International label, but, as always, we have chosen to complement an exceptional and comprehensive selection of PIR classics with several versions that illustrate the timeless charm of their compositions. Blues adaptations, reggae versions: “Love Train” certainly has one! A long-standing motto of Gamble, Huff and their close friend and frequent collaborator, Thom Bell’s Mighty Three publishing house, was and remains: “You’ll never forget our tunes.” The selections on this collection will prove it for decades to come.
