Nine characters. Six rooms. An interdimensional hotel. With *Elevator Songs*, the first collaboration between the Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth and singer-songwriter Gabriel Kahane, the laws of time and space fade away, giving way to pure emotion. Written for Roomful of Teeth’s eight voices, accompanied by Kahane on keyboards and guitar, the album is enriched by the textures of two ensemble members: Eliza Bagg on violin and Jodie Landau on vibraphone. The group recorded the album in four days in late 2024, with the help of three-time Grammy-nominated producer and engineer Joseph Lorge. The result? A journey from the absurd ("Valise," "Hot Tub") to the deeply moving ("Not Even the Dead," "Memory Burns"), and everything in between.
