Nocturnes

Description

Through their poetry with intimate and passionate lyricism, and their refined writing gradually revealing unprecedented depth, the thirteen Nocturnes by Gabriel Fauré form the most significant collection of his works for solo piano. Composed over a period of forty-six years (between 1875 and 1921), they testify to the admirable stylistic evolution of the musician. From an expression rooted in Romanticism to an aesthetic fully aligned with the modernity of the 20th century, Fauré flourishes, sculpting his musical personality. Not all of his Nocturnes are of equal importance, but they form a collection whose diversity and progression offer a perfect panorama of his art. Éric Le Sage, one of the most essential representatives of the French piano school and who has recorded numerous albums for Alpha (including the complete chamber music of Fauré), interprets here his favorite repertoire.
