Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of a 4 CD clamshell box set featuring the four albums of the legendary Irish progressive rock band FRUUPP: "Wise as Wisdom – The Dawn Albums 1973 1975." Formed in Belfast in 1971, the band consisted of Pete Farrelly (bass, flute, vocals), Vincent McCusker (lead guitar, vocals), Stephen Houston (keyboards, oboe, vocals), and Martin Foye (drums, percussion). The band signed with the progressive DAWN label of Pye Records in 1973 and became very popular on the British scene, sharing the stage with prestigious groups such as Genesis, ELO, Hawkwind, Man, Supertramp, Queen, and others. Their first album, "Future Legends," was released in October of the same year and helped them build a loyal audience. Their second album, "Seven Secrets," came out in April 1974 and was a magnificent exercise in symphonic and melodic rock, acclaimed by critics upon its release. Released in November 1974, "The Prince of Heaven’s Eyes" was Fruupp's third album and their most ambitious to date, a conceptual work. Before recording their fourth album, keyboardist Stephen Houston left the band and was replaced by John Mason on keyboards, vibraphone, and vocals. "Modern Masquerades" was Fruupp's last album and, undoubtedly, one of their most accomplished. Produced by Ian McDonald, a former member of King Crimson, the album did not achieve the commercial success expected. The recordings of this cult band are now highly sought after by collectors, and this four-disc box set brings together their entire discography for the first time. This remastered 4 CD box set, presented in shrink wrap, contains the four albums in sleeves that faithfully reproduce the original covers, along with a poster.
