Gold Past Lives, the new album by Fruit Bats, is both an ending and a new beginning in the band's career, still centered around singer and songwriter Eric D. Johnson. This record marks the conclusion of an unintentional trilogy characterized by anxiety and discomfort, and it showcases the calm and possibilities that arise after a long period of uncertainty. Johnson's falsetto shines alongside the folk-rock of Gold Past Lives. This new album features numerous collaborations: Greta Morgan (Springtime Carnivore, Vampire Weekend), Neal Casal (Circles Around the Sun), Trevor Beld Jimenez and Tim Ramsey (Party Lines), as well as Meg Duffy (Hand Habits), among others. The producer Thom Monahan (Neko Case, Peter Bjorn & John, Devendra Banhart) is also involved.
