The Deram Recordings 1970-1971

Description

A new remastered 2CD collection of all the recordings by the Detroit psychedelic rock band Frijid Pink, released for the first time on the Deram label of Decca between February 1970 and December 1971.
Frijid Pink was formed in Detroit, Michigan, in the late 1960s, from the ashes of the cover band The Detroit Vibrations. The band included Gary Thompson (guitar), Kelly Green - a stage name for Tom Beaudry (vocals), Tom Harris (bass), and Rick Stevers (drums). The band's hard-hitting psychedelic rock and blues sound quickly caught attention on the Michigan live circuit where they shared bills with other bands such as MC5, The Stooges, and The Amboy Dukes.
Their hard fuzz cover of the song "The House of the Rising Sun" was released as a single in the early 1970s and reached the American top 10; it was one of the top five hits in the UK and a number one single in Germany. The single appeared on their impressive self-titled debut album released in January 1970, which drew a lot of attention to the band.
Their second album, "Defrosted," was released in the summer of 1970 and featured material in the same hard rock blues vein as their first album. After its release, Frijid Pink underwent some lineup changes and by the time of their last single for Decca, 'Lost Son', only Tom Harris and Rick Stevers remained from the original lineup, with Jon Wearing joining as vocalist, Craig Webb as guitarist, and Larry Zelanka as keyboardist.
