Concerto pour violoncelle / epiphanie

Description

The revival of a prestigious catalog. Founded in 1953 in Paris, the Erato label developed in 2 key periods: the 50s to 70s, with many French artists: Maurice André, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Lili Laskine, Jean François Paillard, or Michel Corboz, and especially in the French and baroque repertoires. Then the 80s, with an internationalization of artists and repertoires: Maria Joao Pires, William Christie, John Eliot Gardiner, Vadim Repin, Helène Grimaud... Unfortunately, the label closed in 2001. After its spectacular revival during the autumn of 2013 with Philippe Jaroussky, Natalie Dessay, or Alexandre Tharaud, but also new signings like Sabine Devieilhe and Bertrand Chamayou, Warner Classics continues this beautiful resilience by starting the reasoned exploitation of the immense Erato catalog with this new budget collection The Erato Story. The first 20 CDs were recorded between 1953 and 2003, and are all emblems of the label. Four of them are firsts on CD. With a Rameau / Minkowski album for the Rameau year, the bestseller that was Mozart's Requiem by William Christie, great names like Hélène Grimaud, Vadim Repin, Mstislav Rostropovich, but also older bestseller recordings by Jean-François Paillard, Maurice André, or Michel Corboz, this new collection will delight the press: Diapason, Classica, the radios: France Musique, Radio Classique, as well as all music lovers who will suddenly rediscover wonderful lost gems from the shelves, reissued in a very beautiful presentation.
