Ça fromet Digisleeve

Description

Frédéric Fromet did not look far for the title of his album.
“Ça Fromet !”, then, contains 17 songs. Where everyone gets their share, would write an oh-so-inspired hack writer (who could even add that “with finely crafted lyrics and a sensitivity close to the surface, Frédéric Fromet is an offbeat artist full of self-mockery, someone you’d trust with your eyes closed, and yet who fires red-hot at all the failings of our society in a jubilant opus that should be reimbursed by Social Security, so much does it say out loud what everyone thinks quietly”).
The album opens with an autobiographical attack. A way of saying “Now that I’ve made a proper fool of myself, I’ll be able to take care of yours...”. The festival can then be in full swing. On the hit list: provincials, unbearable kids, corporate jargon, football fans, joggers, Left Bank singers who roll their “r”s, the far right, the far left, the fairground of intermittent performers, the too organic to be true, and the numérico-débilo-narcissistic society. Three songs are directly inspired by recent current events, and we’ll let you guess what they’re about... Finally, the album ends with a live recording with Les Ogres de Barback, during the tour for their 20th anniversary. Les Ogres de Barback, in fact, handled the musical arrangements and played on all the tracks. So much so that you can hear cello, double bass, violin, musical saw, trombone, tuba, bass, piano, trumpet, guitars of all kinds, choirs, etc. François Marnier, Frédéric Fromet’s stage companion, played accordion to attract old ladies and did backing vocals to attract young girls.
Note that the superb illustrations on the cover and in the booklet are the work of Aurel, chosen for his universe close to Frédéric’s through his press drawings. Indeed, “Ça Fromet !”.
