The first album of the Scottish band released in 2004 (three years after its formation) immediately propelled it to the top of the international scene. A rock album with multiple influences navigating between punk and funk, it evokes Wire, the Strokes, the Libertines, and Talking Heads. In the end, the result is surprisingly effective and solid, even though legend has it that some members of the band did not know how to play any instrument when it was formed.
