François-Xavier Roth and Les Siècles revisit the masterpiece of a completely original composer, Paul Dukas: The Sorcerer's Apprentice and the Cantata Velleda. With this new recording, François-Xavier Roth, the conductor with multiple repertoires and orchestras, and Les Siècles, multiple award winners, pay tribute to an unjustly overlooked genius. For the general public, Paul Dukas, French composer (1865-1935), would only be the author of a single work: The Sorcerer's Apprentice, published in 1897. With this, he achieved lasting success, being performed since its creation all over the world and popularized notably by Walt Disney for his Fantasia. However, with this work, Dukas was no longer a novice. This friend of Claude Debussy left us other testimonies of his immense talent such as the cantata Velléda, restored by the Palazzetto Bru-Zane, or the overture Polyeucte. This recording was made on instruments from the late 19th century in order to restore the original colors of Paul Dukas's refined and brilliant orchestrations.
