6 bagatelles. Concert de chambre

Description

Les solistes des Siècles and François-Xavier Roth offer us with this monographic disc of Ligeti three emblematic works of 20th-century chamber music. Six Bagatelles (1953) This youthful work is an arrangement of a composition for piano comprising eleven pieces, Musica ricercata (1951-1953), which bears the mark of Ligeti's provocative spirit. Ten Pieces for Wind Quintet (1968) Ligeti writes this work in complete freedom, whose architecture partially relies on an alternation of ensemble movements and miniature concertos, dedicated to each of the five instruments (clarinet, flute, oboe, horn, and bassoon). Thus, in its definitive version which includes ten brief pieces, each lively and virtuosic movement is followed by a calmer texture. Kammerkonzert for thirteen instrumentalists (1969-1970) Ligeti composes this flagship work while he is synthesizing his discoveries and charting new paths of experimentation. Presented on October 1, 1970, at the Berlin festival, the Kammerkonzert is driven by rhythmic and dynamic energy, where effects of violence, disorder, and chaos gradually replace softness.
