Intégrale oeuvre piano

Description

Perpignan pianist François-Michel Rignol has recorded this complete Déodat de Séverac set for the Solstice label. 25 years of maturation to restore all their meaning to these songs of the earth: clock in hand, the adventure lasted 5 days under the vaults of the Bayssan chapel, at the Sortie Ouest theater in Béziers: the Perpignan pianist François-Michel Rignol recorded there the complete piano works of the Céret-born composer Déodat de Séverac. The music world had been waiting for a new complete set, with pianists not exactly rushing to update a somewhat dated discography. It has now been done, here, between Hérault, Aude and Vallespir. Even the editing was carried out in the Montagne Noire, at sound engineer Pierre Roques’s place. A local “matter,” in a way, but one that goes far beyond the scope of these small borders. François-Michel Rignol was ideally suited to take on this task. For 25 years he has been traveling aboard Séverac’s tartanes without ever feeling the slightest sense of weariness. “I am always struck,” says the pianist, “by the extreme diversity of his music. There is never, in Séverac, the same touch twice, in the pictorial sense of the term.” 3 hours 10 minutes on 3 CDs for 300 pages of music: the very density of this complete set required years of meditation, work, and two years of intense preparation. “I wanted to be ready, I recorded everything by heart in order to better make the pieces my own and place myself as close as possible to what Séverac would have wanted to hear”: more than an interpretation, this complete set bears witness to the emotional closeness between François-Michel Rignol and Déodat de Séverac. It tells us how these two, without ever having met, were made to understand one another.
