"The court airs have followed me for almost as long as I have been playing the transverse flute... They are among the most beautiful creations of French art for me. I have gathered these airs from the second half of the 17th century to complete the exploration begun with Et la fleur vole (early 17th century, ALPHA314) and À l’ombre d’un ormeau (early 18th century, ALPHA342)," says François Lazarevitch in the introduction to this new album: "joining the qualities of sound and breath of the voice and the flute particularly interests me." Love songs, dance airs for entertainment, and brunettes on pastoral themes follow one another in this program, balancing emotion and erudition. These miniatures are beautifully interpreted by two exceptional singers who join the instrumentalists (lute, flute, musette, harp, viola) of the Musiciens de Saint-Julien: soprano Julie Roset and mezzo-soprano Lucile Richardot.
