The path to Schubert's universe is filled with meanders... A long walk towards what I have always perceived as the supreme expression of the fragility of the soul... because playing Schubert is for me the culmination of an initiatory journey... one gives oneself in mirror to one's doubts, joys, and I recognize myself in this discreet confidence. Each of his eight Impromptus, in their singularity, is a condensed version of the Schubertian universe, of the Viennese spirit so dear to the composer. They are for me like an inner journey: taming the evening, awakening the morning, laying bare and weaving without weighing the colors of uncertainty with those of hope, it is to lose oneself to better find oneself. It is all the spirit of these impromptus where resignation contends with life, and reveals Schubert's incandescent genius, in its subtle and luminous complexity. François Chaplin
