Description

The Four Tops is an American quartet signed to the Motown Records label, whose repertoire was mainly composed of Doo-Wop, Soul, R&B and Disco. Originally from Detroit, it was initially made up of members Levi Stubbs (a cousin of singer Jackie Wilson), Abdul “Duke” Fakir, Renaldo “Obie” Benson, and Lawrence Payton. The original lineup existed for more than forty years (from 1953 to 1997). Among their biggest hits are I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) and Reach Out I'll Be There (later adapted into French under the title “J'attendrai” by Claude François).
