Most rockers would never have recovered from the end of Nirvana. Dave Grohl, however, managed to bounce back by switching from drums to guitar and vocals for the greatest pleasure of indie rock fans who are probing him. After ten years of an impeccable career, his Foo Fighters indulged in a series of mostly acoustic performances (the whole thing sounds very Laurel Canyon), noted by the press and the public, and not much less gentle than their electric concerts.
In the setlist, already classic songs (My Hero, Time Like These, Everlong, Best Of You), highlighted by arpeggios and strummed chords, some well-placed keyboard touches (the evocation of the Mellotron in Next Year) and enhanced by the presence of more talented than well-known guests like Pat Smear (guitar), Pedra Haden (violin) or Drew Hester (percussion).
