Discovered on Akhenaton’s single “Bad boys de Marseille,” those who also call themselves “la Section nique-tout” established themselves in 1998 as the second benchmark of Marseille rap. With telling tracks (“La furie et la foi,” “Maintenant ou jamais,” “Sans rémission,” “La résistance,” “Les mains sales”), the four rappers (le Rat Luciano, Don Choa, Sat and Menzo) show no mercy and let loose savagely over the productions of Pone, the group’s eldest member. Put together by American sound engineer Mario Rodriguez (Mobb Deep, Notorious BIG, LL Cool J) and marked by DJ Djel’s scratches, this first album features Akhenaton and 3eoeil for Marseille, Kertra of Expression Direkt and les X for Paris. Apparently, for Fonky Family, it was God’s will, since more than 200,000 copies sold made this hardcore record a real success.
