Ferrum Splendidum

Description

After a recital dedicated to Rossini (Alpha 791), Florian Sempey presents us with another of his passions: the world of knights and medieval tales. For him, "there is a mysterious force emanating from the castles: the old stones have always fascinated me." Ferrum Splendidum ("resplendent metal") refers to his ancestors who were blacksmiths in Périgord... Instead of following this lineage, the French baritone has chosen to work the raw metal of his voice, and it is at the peak of his art that he has crafted this rich program that blends famous arias and rarities, including Richard Cœur de Lion by Grétry, Hamlet by Ambroise Thomas, Le Pardon de Ploërmel by Meyerbeer, as well as L’Enchanteresse by Tchaikovsky, Tannhäuser by Wagner, excerpts from the famous neo-medieval play by Carl Orff, Carmina Burana, and even a creation by Romain Dumas, Le Chevalier d’Éon, composed in 2019... Florian reunites with his collaborators from the Orchestre national Bordeaux Aquitaine and the young conductor Victor Jacob, Revelation Conductor at the Victoires de la musique 2023.
