Cap de Bonne Espérance

Description

Après le succès critique de son deuxième album Biches bleues, Florian Pellissier decided to quickly follow up with a new quintet album. The lineup has not changed, but the style has become more defined, and this Cap de Bonne Espérance should further establish Florian Pellissier on the French jazz scene.
His previous album Biches bleues received 4 stars in jazzmag, Jazznews “choc”, TSF and Jazz radio playlist, album of the week in jazz à fip... And this new album is likely to do even better!
You can find Florian Pellissier behind many projects, whether it be the live band of GUTS, Setanta, Camarao, Luzmila Carpio... But it is with his quintet that he truly thrives.
There are sometimes revelations that strike where we least expect them, the kind that clear away the fog to illuminate the road ahead distinctly. It was during an evening in July at the Jazz à Vienne festival dedicated to South African jazz that Florian Pellissier received the inspiration that would guide this new album.
In fact, the quintet had never left its Hexagonal roots. Revealed on a summer evening, this South African jazz had mainly served as a spiritual guide for writing these new tracks.
9 new tracks all composed by Florian Pellissier except 2 covers, the standard « What a difference a day makes » with Leron Thomas, and a classic of English spiritual jazz « The hipster » by Harold McNair.
