Description
Giovanni Ferrandini (1710-1791) first came to Munich with his father in 1722; trained as an oboist, he was appointed Kammer-Compositore in 1732 by the Elector Charles Albert of Bavaria before being named director of music for the electorate in 1737. A contemporary of Galuppi, Pergolesi, and Gluck, he developed his own variant of the galant style, highly expressive, with a dense string sound and eminently sensual vocal writing. His secular cantatas testify to an eloquent art, notably the three cantatas extracted from the six Cantate con Istromenti preserved in Dresden and presented here by mezzo-soprano Olivia Vermeulen and the ensemble Harmonie Universelle conducted by Florian Deuter.Buy Cantate drammatiche at the best price
