Even without complex and complicated parts, 70s prog still resonates in Floating Opera. On the other hand, their style would be classified as proto-metal today. Among other things, heavy metal fans will notice while listening to the title track that Andreas Ulbricht’s vocals partly recall J.D. Kimball of Omen. Although it was first released in 1981, so a bit late for this style, the word “Krautrock” may also come to the listener’s mind. It no longer has anything to do with rock and metal, but drummer Peter Garattoni is still known to insiders.
