Since their meeting thirteen years ago, Adrien Sanchez, Maxime Sanchez, Florent Nisse, and Gautier Garrigue have each carved out a prominent place for themselves on the French and European jazz scene, continuously engaging in projects and collaborations with renowned artists and emerging groups. One of these formations has become the common thread of their respective careers: Flash Pig. - - Born from a shared desire to play open, unpretentious music without compromise and that does not turn its back on a certain jazz tradition, Flash Pig is a quartet formed in 2008 that draws inspiration from both the work and writing of the free scene of the 70s (Keith Jarrett, Ornette Coleman, Paul Motian) and the sound and spirit of certain contemporary musicians. Awarded numerous prizes, including the European Jazz Competition in 2015, the quartet has recorded four albums to date under its name. The previous one, Year of the Pig, released on the NOME label in 2019, demonstrated "a rare density, never showy, confirming Flash Pig's leading status in the new French scene." (Jazz Magazine). - - Led collectively, emphasizing the collective over individualities, Flash Pig aspires each year to grow and evolve a little more. A symbol of the desire to build collectively, this new album is the first to feature compositions from each of the four band members. It is also the first record of a new label, named Astérie, created specifically for the future works of Flash Pig. The music on this album reaffirms their taste for adventure throughout the tracks, as well as the strength and originality of their universe, in which the legacy of free jazz can coexist seamlessly with Sean Paul or Lana Del Rey. - - As in any long-term adventure, some periods are fruitful, while others are more challenging. This new album, largely composed during the two years of confinement, reaffirms the four musician friends' determination to move forward together under all circumstances, Le Plus Longtemps Possible.
